Bangladesh will host Ireland for a two-match Test series, which is going to commence from November 10 onwards, as announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The opening Test is set to be played in Sylhet while the second Test is scheduled to begin on November 18 in Dhaka. This might not be an ordinary Test series for Bangladesh as one of their cricketing superstars, Mushfiqur Rahim, could achieve an incredible milestone in the history of cricket in his country.
The second Test of the two-match series is highly likely to end up being the landmark 100th Test for Mushfiqur Rahim in Bangladesh colours, becoming the first cricketer from the country to reach the coveted number, as reported by Cricbuzz. Over the years, Mushfiqur Rahim has been
a player to bank on for Bangladesh ever since he made his Test debut as an 18-year-old at Lord’s in 2005.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the only Bangladesh player to score more than 6000 runs in Tests
Mushfiqur Rahim is only the second youngest to play a Test at Lord's behind the "God of Cricket" Sachin Tendulkar. He has been a huge asset to the Bangladesh national team over the years, being the only player from the country to score more than 6000 runs in the red-ball format. The wicket keeper-batsman has also achieved the country’s highest individual score in Tests with a stellar 219 not out against Zimbabwe. His contribution to the Bangladesh cricket team has been a very precious one.
He will look to continue achieving records and breaking some in the upcoming Test series against Ireland. A BCB official said the following about how the two-match Test series came to be, "Initially, Ireland wanted to play only one Test but later changed their stance and both boards agreed that the two-Test series would go ahead." Bangladesh, who last played a Test in the month of June against Sri Lanka, will be rearing to win the upcoming Test series against Ireland.
