Pakistan captain Salman Agha has supported his star pacer Haris Rauf for his aggressive behaviour. In the final of the Asia Cup2025 in Dubai, Pakistan have an uphill task to beat India and win the title
after 13 years. The Men in Green have looked disastrous against India so far in the competition. In the group match, Agha and his men registered a seven-wicket defeat against their arch-nemesis while in the Super 4, reigning champions handed a six-wicket hammering to the Green Army. However, in both matches, emotions were high and players from both sides were seen in getting involved in verbal altercations.
In the Super 4 contest against India, Haris Rauf was seen having a heated exchange with Abhishek Sharma. The visuals of their verbal fight went viral on social media and Rauf was heavily trolled by India supporters. However, his captain Salman Agha has backed him. Appearing in the pre-match presser, Agha has remarked that he won’t stop Rauf from expressing his fierce side as aggression is essential for the speedster.
“Every individual has their own ways. If someone wants to be aggressive on the ground, then why not? If you take the aggression from a fast bowler, then what’s left? Every player knows how to deal with their emotions. As a captain, I give a free hand to any player to react the way they want on the ground unless they disrespect or do something that would bring embarrassment to our people,” remarked the Pakistanskipper.
Haris Rauf’s infamous deed during the Super Fours match against India
During the Super 4 match against India, when Haris Rauf was fielding at the deep, the speedster was getting mocked by India fans by chants of Virat Kohli. Replying to defending champions’ supporters, Rauf used his hand to show a plane getting crashed. The pacer also showed the sign of 6-0 in regards to the short war-like situation between India and Pakistan earlier this year.
With his action, Rauf was alluding to the groundless claims of his country’s Armed Forces that India’s six Rafale planes were downed during Operation Sindoor. Discussing the speedster’s performance in that match, the 31-year-old took two wickets and gave 26 runs in his four overs.
