Bangladesh announce 15-man squad for T20 World Cup 2026

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka starting February 7 with Litton Das set to lead the side.Litton

will continue as captain, while Mohammad Saif Hassan has been named as the vice-captain.

The squad has plenty of experience with the return of pacer Taskin Ahmed who missed Bangladesh’s last series against Ireland. They have added plenty of depth in the pace department with Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam and Md Shaifuddin. Bangladesh have left out Nazul Shanto and Jaker Ali from the squad.

The batting unit features Tanzid Hasan, Mohammad Parvez Hossain Emon, Tawhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain, while wicket-keeping options will be between Litton Das and Nurul Hasan Sohan. Considering the conditions in subcontinent they have also a good spin attack will be led by Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Nasum Ahmed, offering different variety and control in middle overs and all of them can be handy with the bat lower down the order.

Bangladesh have so far featured in all the editions of the WT20 but have never made to the semi-finals and they will be hoping this squad puts up a good performance. Bangladesh’s four league games are scheduled against West Indies (February 7), Italy (February 9) and England (February 14) in Kolkata, followed by their final match against Nepal (February 17) in Mumbai. The T20 showpiece will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. BCB has written to ICC asking for their matches to be shifted from India due to security concerns.
