John Cena, the record-setting 17th WWE Champion, is set to retire from in-ring competition in the promotion on December 13 during Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. The Leader of Cenation is currently in the homestretch of his farewell tour, and later tonight, he is set to take on AJ Styles in a one-on-one match at the WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event (PLE) in Perth, Australia.
Notably, just a couple of weeks after the venue for John Cena’s final WWE match got confirmed, a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) states that the leading political figures are likely to be invited and attend it. Dave Meltzer, who is one of the top journalists in the pro-wrestling scene and a part of WON, remarked
that “there will be a ton of people from the White House at the show, but (Donald) Trump is undecided at the moment”.
Donald Trump got inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in 2013
It is understood that WWE are of the impression that US President Donald Trump could be there, but the situation could clear up as the date for Saturday Night’s Main Event comes closer. On the same day of the WWE x NBC special starting at 8:00 PM ET, Donald Trump has to be there for the Army versus Navy football game, which is set to begin at 3 PM ET in Baltimore, so he will have enough time to fly into Washington D.C.
Moreover, it is important to remember that well before Donald Trump became the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America (USA), he was an integral part of a storyline heading into WrestleMania 23 in 2007 alongside former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. The 79-year-old was inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
