The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has reached its penultimate stage with hosts India Women sealing a berth in the final and setting up a clash against South Africa Women. With the final showdown set to
take place on Sunday, November 2 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the tournament will see a new champion. However, both teams will be coming into the final high on confidence, they will still hope to put up a dominating performance across departments for that one final time.
While the Women in Blue will be coming into the final after beating seven-time champion side Australia Women in the semi-final, South Africa Women defeated England Women by 125 runs. However, the onus will be on the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, who have the home advantage favouring them.
BCCI mulling to reward India Women with INR 125 Cr after men’s team ICC triumph in 2024
As the Women in Blue set their eyes on the silverware, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also stated some plans. In one of them, the Indian cricket board is mulling to reward the women’s side with as much as INR 125 Crore price money, keeping gender equality in mind if they go on to create history with a win tonight. According to a report by PTI, officials in the BCCI are considering on giving a financial reward that mirrors to the men’s, who were awarded INR 125 Crore after T20 World Cup victory in 2024.
“The BCCI supports equal pay for men and women, and hence there is a lot of discussions that if our girls win the World Cup, the reward will not be anything less compared to the men’s global triumph. But it is not nice to announce before they win the Cup,” an anonymous BCCI official told PTI.
