The Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night stood long on the field after eliminating their NL Central rivals Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of National League Division Series (NLDS). The Brewers beat the Cubs 3-1 in Game 5 at the American Family Field to progress into the National League Championship Series (NLCS). The decision came after the 2025 Brewers won more game than any team in the frnahcise history, earning a first-round bye by winning more games than any team.
However, there was a moment where their season was on the brink, but they held their nerves on Saturday night, registering a convincing victory by 3-1 margin in the winner-take-all Game 5. The game saw William Contreras open the scoring with a first inning solo homer, Seiya Suzuki answered
with a shot shot, followed by a decisive blow with a solo homer off Brewer Colin Rea by Andrew Vaughn. After a dominant show, the Cubs were denied a winning chance despite a solid work.
Milwaukee Brewers to face Los Angles Dodgers in NLCS
With a victory, the Brewers have now setup a clash against World Series Champions Los Angeles Dodgers. The Milwaukee side mark their return in the NLCS for the first time since 2018 and will face the Dodgers, beginning Monday night in Milwaukee. In the regular season series, the Dodgers swept Brewers 6-0 and outscored 21-16.
“A lot of people didn’t believe in them early on, and they just continued to stay relentless,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said post victory. “You can call them the average Joes, but I say they’re the above-average Joes,” Murphy added.
