Manchester United, one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the European history, have yet again started the season on a disappointing note, winning just two out of the six matches they have played so far in the Premier League. The Red Devils are also being knocked out of the EFL Cup in the second round itself to fourth-tier club Grimsby Town two months ago.
Pressure has been mounting on Ruben Amorim for some time now as Manchester United have won just 18 out of the 49 matches they have played since the Portuguese coach arrived at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are yet to win two consecutive matches in the Premier League under thim, which is turning out to be a record to forget for Amorim. He has been facing a lot of criticism from the legends
of the club and the entire fan community due to his stubborness in formations and playing style, and talked about in his recent press conference.
Criticism is normal… we cannot run away from the results: Ruben Amorim
However, Ruben Amorim has been clear since the start that he has got a plan for the club and will stick to it until there are fruitful outcomes. Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner of the Red Devils has recently supported the manager during his tough time. However, he might be forced to make some serious decisions if Manchester United fail to beat the newly promoted Sunderland side which is going to take place at Old Trafford. In the pre-match press conference Amorim stated, “Criticism is normal… we cannot run away from the results.”
“We had six games this season, and we have lost three. And if we lost against Arsenal because of the system? It’s your job to make the opinions,” he added. The loss against Brentford has really affected the team quite a lot and they are eager to come up with a splendid response. Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways starting from this weekend. It will be interesting to see if the club hierarchy will continue to back Amorim in the next few weeks and months.
