In the last round-robin game of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2025, hosts India's contest against Bangladesh at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai concluded in no result. Earlier, at the toss, India skipper
Harmanpreet Kaur emerged victorious and elected to field first. The match was reduced to 27 overs per side due to rain. In the first over, pacer Renuka Singh delivered the breakthrough to India as she got Sumaiya Akter (2 off 6) caught at the hands of Shree Charani. Rubya Haider (13 off 32) was next to fall as she failed to counter spinner Deepti Sharma in the 10th over.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty looked timid after the fall of two wickets and she got run out after scoring only nine off 24, courtesy a direct hit from Radha Yadav. Except for Sharmin Akhter (36 off 53) and Sobhana Mostary (26 off 21), no batter could challenge India's bowling attack. Eventually, Bangladesh capitulated at a score of 119/9 after 27 overs. Radha Yadav emerged as the most successful bowler for India as she picked up 3/30 figures in her six overs. Shree Charani also got two wickets after bowling her six overs. Renuka Thakur, Deepti Sharma, and Amanjot Kaur bagged one scalp apiece.
India were in great position in pursuit of 126-run target before rains came
Pursuing the 126-run target on DLS method, India got an aggressive start from Smriti Mandhana and Amanjot Kaur. Both batters took Bangladesh bowling attack to the cleaners and stitched a 57-run stand for the opening wicket off just 52 balls. However, rain again played spoilsport and denied India an easy win.
India concluded the round-robin stage with seven points earned through three victories and a no result in seven outings. Now, the co-hosts will be playing the second semi-final of the ICC Women's CWC 2025 at the same venue against defending champions Australia on Thursday, October 30.
