During the ongoing second Test of the two-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his seventh Test hundred at the expense of West Indies apart from
going past 3,000 runs in international cricket. The left-handed batter also reached fifth Test score of 150 and more, which was critical for India in declaring their first innings at 518/5 in the second session on day two, putting the Men in Maroon in deep trouble.
At the close of play on day two in the second Test match in Delhi, Yashasvi Jaiswal met up with West Indies legend Brian Lara near the boundary line at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, sharing a heartfelt moment with him, which was shared on the official Instagram account of the Indian cricket team. During their short interaction, Lara hilariously told Jaiswal, “Don’t beat our bowlers that bad”, which brought a chuckle out of the Indian opener before he politely said to him, “I am just trying.”

I always put the team first, how I can play for my team and what is important for my team at that moment: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Following a brief chat with Brian Lara, Yashasvi Jaiswal looked back at his seventh Test hundred and what makes him tick in the field. He remarked, “I always put the team first, how I can play for my team and what is important for my team at that moment. This then gives me the answer to how I can play, what shots I can play and if I'm there, I make sure that I take it as long as I can. My mindset is that if I have a start, I should make it big.”
Currently, in the third and final session on day three of the Test match, West Indies, who were forced to follow-on, have reached 149/2 in 43 overs in their second innings, still trailing India by 121 runs, but they have two set batters at the crease, namely John Campbell (81* off 129) and Shai Hope (51* off 82). It was during the second session on day three when their first innings ended on 248 runs after Kuldeep Yadav took his fifth five-wicket haul in Test cricket.
The Indian bowlers will be hoping to end the third day’s play on a high before giving their best on day four to wrap up the Test match and series in their favour against West Indies.
