Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier league table with just one loss in the six matches they have played so far. But they have now lost two matches on the bounce against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Galatasaray in the Champions League. Liverpool manager Arne Slot is looking to make a turnaround from this and get back to winning ways against Chelsea away from home in the English top flight.
However, ahead of the huge clash at Stamford Bridge, Arne Slot has provided a big update on the star players who might not be seen making an appearance in the fixture due to injury. In the clash against Galatasaray, Liverpool faced major concerns as their goalkeeper Alisson Becker had to be subbed off due to a hamstring injury. Slot stated
that Alisson will not be a part of the squad against Chelsea and will remain out of the squad until the end of the international break.
Hugo Ekitike and Federico Chiesa have returned to team training, confirms Arne Slot
The Liverpool manager also mentioned that he will be surprised if Alisson makes a return in the first match after the upcoming international break, considering the seriousness of the injury. Alisson is set to miss the international friendlies representing Brazil and will also reportedly remain out of the squad for the Premier League home fixture against big rivals Manchester United.
However, Liverpool fans can be relieved as Arne Slot confirmed in the pre-match conference that both Hugo Ekitike and Federico Chiesa have returned to the team training and will be a part of the squad against Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if they are fit enough to pave their way into the starting lineup and help Liverpool achieve a much-needed victory.
