Harry Brook issues apology after nightclub incident on New Zealand tour, was given final warning before Ashes

Australia have wrapped up the Ashes 4-1 after a comfortable five wicket win in the last Test at SCG. Hours after the match a report from Telegraph has revealed some shocking incidents that took place during the New Zealand tour that happened before Ashes. It is said that these information were not released before Ashes as they wanted the players to focus, but now since the Ashes is completed they have released more information regarding England white ball captain Harry Brook.

A report in the Telegraph revealed Brook was struck by the bouncer in New Zealand a night before the match. This incident occurred in Wellington on October 31 after Brook was refused entry to a nightclub because security suspected he was drunk. Brook became embroiled in a row

with a bouncer and was struck, although he did not suffer any injury. It is understood that Brook reported himself to the management and there was no third-party complaint.

After this incident he was lucky to survive as captain considering the incident happened the night before a match. This incident happened a night before third ODI in Wellington. England were batting first and Brook out for six off 11 balls. They lost the match by two wickets, and were beaten 3-0 in the series. On the same night of the altercation with the bouncer, Brook and England team-mate Jacob Bethell were filmed drinking and the video later posted on social media.

It is also revealed that Brook who is England’s Test vice-captain, was already on a final warning for his behaviour before arriving in Australia. Harry Brook has apologised after being involved in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer. Brook was close to being sacked as white-ball captain after an investigation by the team’s management. He was struck by a bouncer who would not allow him into a nightclub. Brook was fined around £30,000, the maximum amount possible by the ECB after this incident.

Brook apologised for his behaviour in a statement released to Telegraph Sport: “I want to apologise for my actions. I fully accept that my behaviour was wrong and brought embarrassment to both myself and the England team”. Harry Brook has had a disappointing Ashes tour as he could scored just two fifties in ten innings. He ended the Ashes scoring 358 runs in 10 innings without a century.
