West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against Team India due to an injury. Joseph is a key member of Windies team as he fortifies the Caribbean side’s fast-bowling unit. Joseph is famous for brilliant spell of 7/68 spell against Australia in Gabba in January 2024. Riding on his extraordinary bowling, the West Indies tasted success by eight runs. If Joseph hadn’t been ruled out of the tournament, it would’ve been his first visit to India. West Indies will tour India for a couple of Tests to be played between October 2 and 14. The match will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium and Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Shamar Joseph. “Squad Update. Johann Layne has replaced Shamar Joseph in the squad for the test series against India. Joseph has been ruled out due to an injury and will be re-evaluated ahead of the Bangladesh limited overs series. #INDvsWI | #MenInMaroon,” wrote Windies Cricket. All-rounder Johann Layne has been announced as Joseph's replacement.

Shamar Joseph has played 11 Tests in which he has clinched 51 wickets in 21 innings, with the best figures of 7/68 against Australia in Gabba. This year, he has been in sensational form. The speedster has grabbed 22 wickets in six innings of three matches. West Indies will play their first red-ball series on Indian soil in seven years.
In 2018, when the Caribbean team played the two-match Test series against India, the visitors registered a 2-0 defeat. West Indies’ last Test victory against Team India came 23 years back under Carl Hopper's captaincy in Kingston in May 2002.
