India and Pakistan are set to take on each other in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 round. After Pakistan’s win against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 17, the Men in Green became the second team to qualify for the Super 4 round. Salman Ali Agha and his men will start their next round’s campaign against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 21. Both teams locked horns against each other on September 14 and the Men in Blue walked back victorious with seven wickets in hand.
Ahead of the crucial clash, ex-Pakistan pacerMohammad Amir dropped an appreciation post for Virat Kohli on social media. Amir called Kohli the best player and human being in Indian cricket history. Taking to X, Amir wrote, "One thing is for sure,
Virat is the best player and best human being in Indian cricket history, respect." In the 2016 edition of the Asia Cup (played in the T20 format), when India beat Pakistan by six wickets, Kohli played a 49-run knock off 51 balls and became the Player of the Match (POTM). Amir also shone with the ball and took 3/18 figures in his four-over spell. The game was won by India by five wickets.
Virat Kohli’s T20I records against Pakistan
Virat Kohli played 11 T20I matches against Pakistan in his 14-year-long career in the shortest format, and scored 492 runs at a strike rate of 137.08. His notable knock against the Men in Green came in the T20 World Cup 2022 game, played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Chasing 160 runs against the arch-rivals, when India saw themselves reeling at a score of 31/4 in 6.1 overs, Kohli held his nerves and guided India to victory with his unbeaten 82 off 53. During his valiant innings, he also struck two maximums against speedster Haris Rauf, which became the iconic moment in cricket’s history. His impeccable batting show also got him the Player of the Match (POTM) award.
