November 2, 2025 will go down in the history of Indian cricket as India Women lifted their maiden Cricket World Cup title, beating South Africa by 52 runs at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
The victory was special for all the players as they have wished to lift the title at home for skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and the legends of the game, including legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, Mithali Raj and others.
While the emotions were out loud on the face of every Indian player who helped the team lift their maiden title in Navi Mumbai, the members of the Indian cricketing fraternity also could not contain their emotions and took to social media to express them. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a heartfelt gesture announced INR 51 Crore prize money, several state associations and governments have also decided to reward players.
No victory parade planned as of now: Devajit Saikia confirms
The announcement of the prize money was done by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia in his first address to ANI after India’s title win, he was later asked if the Indian women’s side will have a victory parade like the men’s side. It is to be noted that Rohit Sharma-led Team India had a victory parade in Mumbai days after lifting the T20 World Cup in 2024.
When asked about the same for the Women in Blue, the BCCI Secretary said, “Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now. I’m leaving for Dubai to attend the ICC meeting. Several officials are heading there as well, so once we return, we will plan accordingly.” Notably, the members of the BCCI have travelled to Dubai for an ICC meeting, which is scheduled to be held from November 4 to 7.
