Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team is taking on Australia in the third and final ODI, underway on Saturday, October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney. While the home side have already claimed the series,
having won the first two ODIs in Perth and Adelaide respectively, the visitors will aim to end the series on high with a consolation win in their bag.
As the two sides took the field, Australia once again won the toss and elected to bat first. While the opening duo of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh gave a good start at the top, the former was removed by Mohammed Siraj in the final over of the first powerplay. The white-ball skipper also could not long his stay in the middle as he was removed by Axar Patel in the 16th over.
Virat Kohli’s displays sharp reflexes; leaves Matt Short stunned with brilliant catch
After Marsh’s dismissal, Matt Renshaw joined Matthew Short and the duo looked good, adding crucial runs on the board. But the moment once again changed in the 23rd over, when Virat KohIi took a sharp catch at square leg to dismiss Short. With Gill re-introducing Washington Sundar into the attack, the Indian all-rounder bowled a tossed up outside off. Seeing the slower one, Short tried to nail with a pull as he hit hard straight to square leg.
Virat Kohli, who was positioned at square leg, did not hesitate and crouched low to hold on to a beauty, thus dismissing Matthew Short at 30 off 41 deliveries. Seeing a jaw-dropping catch from Kohli, Short too was left stunned and walked off the field with Australia having scored 124/3 after 22.3 overs.
