Dallas Mavericks will continue with Jason Kidd as Head Coach for a few more years as they have extended his contract. The Mavericks on Tuesday, October 14 announced that they agreed for a multi-year extension with Kidd and this will be his fifth year as Head Coach. Under his coaching, the Mavericks reached the NBA final two seasons ago while Jason also won the championship with them as a player in 2011.
Jason Kidd joined Dallas Mavericks as Head Coach in 2021 after his two-year tenure with Los Angeles Lakers. He signed his first multi-year extension with Mavericks in 2024 during the middle of the season. The Mavericks ended as the runners-up in that season after losing the NBA final against the Boston Celtics.

Jason Kidd has a great portfolio
in his 12-year coaching career so far. Kidd maintained a record of 362-339 record in nine out of 12 seasons with teams like Dallas Mavericks, LA Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks. He has a record of 179-149 with two deep playoff runs. Notable, the Mavericks also denied permission to the New York Knicks to ask Kidd about his coaching vacancy. Kidd has played for the Knicks as a players 2012-13.
Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison also heaped praised on Kidds and stated that he is the best person to coach the Mavericks. “J-Kidd’s basketball resume is one of the best in the game, and through every situation he has proven he’s the right person to lead the Mavericks. He has a track record of developing some of the best talent in the league, as well as the ability to connect with players to bring out the best version of themselves,” Harrison was quoted as saying by NBA.
