During the first session in the first Test of the two-match series against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah hilariously mocked the opposition captain Temba Bavuma.
When Bumrah pinged the pads of Bavuma in the 13th over of the innings, all the Indian players closer to the batter appealed vociferously to the on-field umpire, who declared the Proteas skipper not out.
Within seconds, Jasprit Bumrah, who was very interested in getting the decision sent to the third umpire on DRS, discussed it with returning wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and their chatter was caught on the stump mic. Bumrah was sure about striking Bavuma in line of the stumps before Pant suggested that it might have struck high, to which the Indian pacer remarked, “Bauna bhi toh hai ye (He is also small in stature)”.

To which the Indian wicket-keeper agreed and remarked that that ball struck the South Africa captain on the thigh pad before Bumrah discontentedly mentioned the aforementioned comment with an expletive. Ultimately, Indian captain Shubman Gill decided against taking the DRS before the replays showed that the ball was going over the stumps despite being struck in line against Temba Bavuma.
As of this writing, Jasprit Bumrah has taken three wickets till the ongoing second session on day one of the Test match in 12 overs while conceding just 23 runs and delivering four maidens. The other two wickets in the South African innings have fallen to Kuldeep Yadav and with that, the visitors are reduced to 142/5 in 42 overs with Tristan Stubbs and Kyle Verreynne trying to rebuild.
