IND vs AUS: Did Starc bowl 176.5 kmph to Rohit?

Australia is currently hosting India in a white-ball series, comprising of three ODIs and five T20Is. The series commenced on Sunday, October 19 with the first ODI, underway at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

For the unversed, Australia won the toss and invited India to bat first. The visitors, who have been bolstered by the the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, did not have a great start.

With Rohit Sharma opening the batting with skipper Shubman Gill, was dismissed after scoring just eight runs off 14 deliveries. Virat Kohli, who walked at number three, too did not have a great start as he was dismissed on eight-ball duck, leaving the visiting side in a state of shock. Shubman Gill (10) and Shreyas Iyer (11) also could not put on a tough fight as they also departed with regular rain breaks coming into play in Perth.

But what caught the eyeballs was Mitchell Starc’s blistering pace when he opened for Australia with the ball. Starc, who has spearhead the Aussie bowling lineup, was on fire as he bowled a thunderbolt 176.5 kph to Rohit Sharma.

As the broadcasters showed the pace of the delivery, fans were quick to react as he presumably broke the world record of fastest delivery. But the broadcasters were quick to realised the error and quickly corrected it to a 140 kph delivery.

Speaking of the match, after multiple rain halts, and a resumption expected by 2:00 pm (IST), India are struggling at 52/4 after 16.4 overs. The game which was initially set to be played in a 50-over per side game, has now been reduced to 26 overs per side match.
