The former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is set to take a call regarding his availability on Saturday against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dhoni had missed the initial games of the IPL 2026 season due
to a calf strain. However, it is learnt that MS Dhoni has been very close to full fitness and that a final decision regarding his fitness will be taken on Thursday morning.
The Chennai Super Kings have been in charge in the recent matches as they have won back-to-back games. With wins against the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Chennai Super Kings seem to be back on track and the five-time champions will be eyeing a spot in the top 4.

CSK bounce back from poor start with dominant wins, eye further boost with Dhoni’s return
After the first three matches of the season, the Chennai Super Kings had the worst possible start to the season. Everything that they tried did not seem to be working and they were in a real spot of bother. Sanju Samson had three consecutive low scores and that disappointed the fans in yellow. The form of their skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, was also below average as he couldn’t get going as well. Their bowling attack was even more terrible as the pacers took plenty of hits and couldn’t control the damage. Their best bowler in recent times, Noor Ahmad, was also wicketless and expensive and that raised quite a few alarm signals in the CSK camp.
But their period of despair had come to an end as they managed to get their first win of the season against the Delhi Capitals. This game proved to be a massive turnaround for the men in yellow as many of their players were showing promising signs of returning to form. Sanju Samson smashed the first century of the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League and Shivam Dube got some quick boundaries at the end. The inclusion of Akeal Hosein was also a positive addition to the squad. The spin duo of Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad has proved to be an impactful one.
The game against the Kolkata Knight Riders was another sign of the domination asserted by the Chennai Super Kings. Noor Ahmad won the Player of the Match award by picking 3 wickets and giving away 21 runs from his 4 overs. The addition of MS Dhoni would be of great assistance to Ruturaj Gaikwad and the men in yellow could definitely sharpen an area or two with his help.
