Brentford take Rugby Ball incident seriously as Police Investigation gets underway
The club’s ground is situated in a development area surrounded by flats and commercial buildings, making it relatively easy for someone nearby to attempt something like this. While some online reactions treat it as a prank, others point out the real risk a heavy object falling from significant height into a packed stadium could easily cause serious injury. Brentford have issued an official club statement confirming they are treating the rugby ball incident seriously.
In the full version of their statement, the club is much clearer and they describe the act as dangerous and potentially very harmful. They also confirmed the matter has been referred to the police, and say they are actively supporting the investigation. Anyone identified could face criminal prosecution. They end by stressing that the safety of fans, staff, players and officials is their top priority. Coming two days after the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, the message is straightforward. Kicking anything from a height towards a packed stadium is not acceptable and Brentford are making sure the authorities will take action.
