Star India cricketer and ODI captain Rohit Sharma recently returned to the country after an extended holiday with his family. Although, the 38-year-old is back in Mumbai, he has been in news since his return with uncertainty
of his future in international cricket. However, the top-order batter hasn’t issued any statement on the same, several reports have claimed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli - the veteran duo who announced retirement from Test cricket in May, may call off time from ODIs as well soon.
With the speculations hitting the roof over Ro-Ko’s future, several media houses have claimed that the duo is not in Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) plan for the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in 2027. Although, there is still a lot of time for it, the Mumbai batter came back strongly - hinting at his return.

While the Rohit Sharma - Virat Kohli pair was set to return to competitive cricket with the white-ball series against Bangladesh, but after it was rescheduled to September 2026 due to ongoing political tensions, their return was delayed to Australia ODIs, which is scheduled for October this year. But ahead of the highly-anticipated series, the Mumbai batter has resumed training.
Rohit Sharma, who is known to be an ODI legend boasting of the third highest number of hundred in the format’s history - immediately resumed training, hoping to remain fit to prolong his cricketing career. On Tuesday, August 12, Rohit shared an Instagram story from a gym where he was spotted training alongside former India coach Abhishek Nayar.
Not only this, a few days ago, Virat Kohli also took to social media to share pictures of his training session in London. The 36-year-old also took a yo-yo test and was spotted alongside Gujarat Titans (GT) coach Naeem Amin.
