With the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 set to be the next major cricketing assignment, on Tuesday, August 19, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee announced India’s 15-member squad. Notably, the 2025 edition
of the Men’s Asia Cup, which will be played in the T20 format, is scheduled to be held from September 9 to 28 in the UAE.
India, who will come into the tournament as defending champions, are placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, the UAE and Oman. In the marquee tournament, the Men in Blue will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, who took over the reins from Rohit Sharma after the latter announced retirement from the shortest format following T20 World Cup win in 2024.
Shubman Gill named vice-captain; no place for Shreyas Iyer, Md Siraj
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had a daunting task while selecting their perfectly balanced 15-member squad, the side includes some hard-hitters of the ball including the likes of Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, among others.
Moreover, in the bowling department, the side have been bolstered by the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, who returns after playing three Test matches in the recently-concluded England series, meanwhile Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj continue to miss out.
