The Men’s Selection Committee has named Yash Thakur as a replacement for Harshit Rana in India’s squads for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games. This marks the Vidarbha
pacer’s second T20I series, having made his international debut in July this year, against Zimbabwe. He earned his India call-up after his impressive performance during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he picked 18 wickets in seven games. During the Zimbabwe tour, he came up with four wickets in two games at an economy of 9.37.
Overall, the 27-year-old bowler has featured in 50 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches, picking up 81 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.04. On the other hand, Rana was progressing well during his rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). He sustained a rectus femoris strain while bowling during a match simulation on September 7 and has subsequently been ruled out.
