Rishabh Pant is set to miss Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match after being advised rest due to viral fever. The India wicketkeeper-batter has reportedly been unwell and will not be available for the domestic
fixture as he focuses on his recovery.
Pant’s latest health update comes shortly after his involvement in the Irani Cup, where he captained the Rest of India side against Jammu and Kashmir. Rest of India went on to defeat Jammu and Kashmir by 167 runs to win the Irani Cup.
Rishabh Pant recently led Rest of India
Pant was handed the captaincy of Rest of India for the Irani Cup and played an important role in the team’s campaign. Rest of India secured a convincing victory over Jammu and Kashmir, with Pant leading the side in the prestigious domestic fixture.
However, Pant was unable to take the field on the final day after developing a fever. Sarfaraz Khan took charge of the team on the field as Rest of India completed the victory.
The latest update suggests that Pant’s viral fever has continued to affect his availability, with doctors advising him to take rest. As a result, he is expected to sit out Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match.
Pant’s absence a setback for Delhi
Pant remains one of the most prominent players in Indian domestic cricket, and his presence adds considerable experience to the Delhi squad. His absence will therefore be a notable setback for the team as it prepares for its next Ranji Trophy assignment.
Importantly, the current update relates to illness rather than a fresh injury. Pant’s immediate priority will be recovering fully from the viral fever before returning to competitive cricket.
