out of the camp, there have been reports of star Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul also. However, neither his IPL franchise - Delhi Capitals nor the player himself hasn’t confirmed any such move, but a shocking report has now come from the DC camp.
According to recent reports, India all-rounder and DC captain Axar Patel is unlikely to continue at helm in the 2026 edition as he aims to shift his focus as a full-time player. According to reports in News24, the Delhi Capitals are considering a new captain, while Axar Patel aims to play as a player.

While the reports state that Axar Patel will continue in the team, but a new player will be seen leading the side, thus opening doors for players like KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs, MItchell Starc and others. The reports quoting Vaibhav Bhola also add that an official announcement on the same is expected to come out soon.
Speaking of the Delhi-based franchise, the Axar Patel-led side finished the IPL 2025 season at fifth place, winning seven matches out of the 14 league stage fixtures, losing six and one ending in a no result.
