women’s team captainHarmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, former captain Mithali Raj, and former Indian Men’s cricket team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. ICC Chairman Jay Shah inaugurated the event, which also featured panel discussions with ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta. In the event, Yuvraj Singh set the social media ablaze with his playful jibe.
A lighthearted moment occurred during the ‘50 Days to Go’ event for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, held at The St. Regis Mumbai, where Yuvraj Singh met Amit Maru, a content creator celebrated for his uncanny resemblance to and comedic imitations of the Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma. In a moment when Amit was getting his photograph clicked with Yuvraj Singh, the latter mentioned him as “Sharma Ji ke bete.” Yuvraj jokingly also added, “Wo tereko dekhega na itna marega na tereko won itna marega na woh (the moment he’ll see you, he’s gonna hit you so hard).” The statement by Yuvraj had everyone breaking into laughter.

Yuvraj Singh, known for his heroics in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, was a key speaker, rallying support for the women’s team. He motivated captain Harmanpreet Kaur and other players to lift their maiden Women's World Cup title this year “Everyone expects India to win. We should support the women’s team as much as we support the men’s team. The World Cup is being held in India. I urge all fans to come and watch the matches and support our team,” Yuvraj told the media, emphasizing the importance of backing the women’s squad on home soil.
The ICC Women’s World Cup is set to commence on September 30, 2025, with India Women and Sri Lanka Women scheduled to clash in the opening game. The 50-over contest marks the return of a senior-level ICC tournament for the first time since 2016, when India hosted the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. India has previously staged the Women’s World Cup in 1978, 1997 and 2013, the team has qualified for the final twice in 2005 and 2017 but has not been able to win the title.
