The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 auction is set to be held in Goa in December, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Wednesday. The upcoming event will be the final mini-auction of the current
IPL player cycle and will mark a return to India after the previous three auctions were hosted overseas.
According to Saikia, the BCCI has decided to stage the IPL 2027 auction in Goa after the league’s auction events were held in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi in recent years. The decision brings the high-profile player auction back to Indian soil and adds another major cricket event to Goa’s calendar.
IPL 2027 auction to return to India
The IPL auction has increasingly become a global event, with franchises, players and support staff travelling across international locations for the proceedings. However, the BCCI has now opted for Goa as the venue for the 2027 auction.
Speaking to ANI, Saikia confirmed the plans and said that the auction would take place in December.
“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations – Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year – we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia said.
The announcement will now see all ten IPL franchises prepare for another important phase of squad building ahead of the 2027 season.

Final mini-auction of current cycle
The IPL 2027 auction is expected to be particularly significant as it will be the last mini-auction of the current cycle. Teams will look to assess their existing squads before deciding on player releases, retentions and potential additions during the auction process.
