The Indian cricket team rewrote history in the most poetic way by winning their second consecutive T20 World Cup title. With this, the Men in Blue have now become the most successful nation in the history of
the competition with three titles to their name. India won a World Cup on home soil after almost fifteen years and that too in a stadium that was once considered to be ‘cursed’.
It was an all-round dominant performance from the Indian unit who did not allow New Zealand to settle in from the get go. Abhishek Sharma finally rediscovered his midas touch and scored the fastest half century in the history of the T20 World Cup final. It took him just 18 balls to cross the 50 run mark as he helped India start on the front foot.
Sanju Samson has written a story of his own with three consecutive match winning knocks despite being left on the bench for the majority of the tournament. Ishan Kishan showed his magic with the bat and then on the field while Shivam Dube made the late push to take India beyond 250. Jasprit Bumrah came up with another speechless performance and won the game for India.

India’s winning moment came on the last ball of the 19th over. Abhishek Sharma gave away five singles in five balls before the moment of glory indeed arrived. Sharma bowled the last ball of the over to Jacob Duffy who wanted to hit it over the boundary line, but ended up finding the safe hands of Tilak Varma who took a comfortable catch and then threw the ball up in the night sky.
The stadium erupted with joy as India became World Champion, AGAIN. Players and support staff from the Indian dugout ran towards the pitch and celebrated with their teammates. The clip also showed a heartwarming moment between ICC Chairman Jay Shah and MS Dhoni. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav touched the pitch as the fireworks lit up the sky. Gautam Gambhir was also seen celebrating with his support staff.
