Samson’s 89 off 46 balls in the final capped off a remarkable sequence of innings in the tournament. Before the title clash, he had already produced two crucial knocks for India in high-pressure matches.
In the Super 8 stage, Samson smashed a brilliant 97 against the West Indies cricket team, helping India secure a must-win victory. He then followed it up with another outstanding innings of 89 against the England national cricket team in the semifinal.
In the final against New Zealand, Samson once again stepped up on the biggest stage and converted his form into a magnificent century, guiding India to a massive total.
