A lot is made about you and said about you when you aren’t winning; defeats and trophy less cabinets don’t really make a pretty picture. They cut a lame picture and make things appear dry as if someone
just took away all the water from the ocean.
Such similar context could be aligned to Delhi Capitals’ fate. They are, lest we forget, among the three teams to have still not won a single IPL trophy.
And just ahead of the start of the brand new season of the Indian Premier League, DC captain Axar Patel was asked about why the trophy is missing from Delhi’s grasp. To that, he replied the following:
Ahead of the new season with the Delhi Capitals, Axar Patel chose humor to deal with the usual questions around expectations. Instead of giving a serious or scripted answer, he joked that they should visit a temple in Delhi, take the director and coach along, and pray for the trophy.
It was a light and witty remark, but it also reflected a deeper truth. Delhi have often had strong squads and big hopes, yet the title has always slipped away at the final stages. Axar’s response didn’t ignore that reality — it simply presented it in a more relaxed and honest way.

In a tournament like the IPL, where pressure is constant and margins are small, not everything can be controlled.
Teams prepare, plan, and perform, but sometimes results still depend on moments that go either way. Axar’s comment was a reminder of that unpredictability.
As the new season approaches, Delhi Capitals will once again aim to turn potential into success.
And while strategy and performance will remain key, a little bit of luck — or as Axar joked, a quick temple visit — might just be part of the journey too.
