The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has talked about Sarfaraz Khan’s snub from India’s squad for the two Tests against the West Indies. Sarfaraz wasn’t a part of India’s team that toured England
for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Prior to the first test against England, India A team played a couple of unofficial Tests against England Lions and Sarfaraz exuded confidence with his bat in the first game with his 92 off 119. The right-handed batter also worked on his fitness and shed 10 kgs within 60 days to shut his critics who trolled him for his weight.
Noting these facts, Sarfaraz Khan was expected to win a spot in India’s Test side against the Windies team but his name didn’t feature in the squad. When the media asked about Sarfaraz’s exclusion from the Test team, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said, "He is injured." Sarfaraz played his last Test match against New Zealand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in November 2024.
Abhimanyu Easwaran dropped from Team India for West Indies Test series
Abhimanyu Easwaran, who got his maiden Test call-up in December 2022, has also failed to make it to TeamIndia’s squad against the Windies side. Within one year, Easwaran travelled with India to Australia and England for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 respectively. However, he didn’t get the opportunity in the playing XI.
Last month, Easwaran’s father also expressed anger at the fact that his son was a part of India’s camp for more than two years but didn’t get a chance to play in the 11-member squad. Following the snub, Easwaran will look to prove himself in Bengal in the upcoming domestic season.
