Team India have received a major boost ahead of their upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, with star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah reportedly declared fit and available for the three-match series.
Bumrah’s
participation in the series was initially subject to fitness clearance after he suffered a knee injury during India’s white-ball tour of England. The pacer subsequently missed the Test series against Sri Lanka, making his return to the T20I setup a closely watched development.
According to the latest reports, Bumrah has successfully completed his fitness and match-simulation requirements and is now set to be available for the Afghanistan series. The development comes just days before India’s opening match on September 13.
The return of Bumrah could be a huge advantage for India. The 32-year-old remains one of the most dependable bowlers in world cricket, particularly in the powerplay and at the death. His ability to pick up wickets while also keeping the scoring rate under control gives India an important weapon in the shortest format.

India have named a strong squad for the Afghanistan series, with Shreyas Iyer set to lead the side and Tilak Varma appointed as his deputy. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan provide wicketkeeping options, while the bowling attack also includes Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi.
Bumrah’s availability is especially significant considering India’s recent injury concerns. Washington Sundar has also been cleared to play, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has reportedly made progress in his recovery. Harshit Rana, however, remains doubtful for the series.
The Afghanistan series will be played entirely in New Delhi, with matches scheduled for September 13, 15 and 17. With Bumrah now reportedly fit, India will hope his return adds experience and firepower to their bowling attack as they look to build momentum in T20I cricket.
