Lionel Messi once again reminded football fans why he is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. The Argentine superstar produced a moment of individual brilliance, dribbling
past three New England Revolution defenders before finding the back of the net to secure a memorable 2-1 comeback victory for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday, November 1.
The match at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough witnessed a brilliant second-half performance from Messi, who played a decisive role in both of Inter Miami’s goals.
New England Revolution initially took the lead through Dániel Gazdag in the 53rd minute. However, Inter Miami responded in the 69th minute when Germán Berterame scored the equaliser. Messi played a crucial role in the goal, producing an improvised header to set up his teammate for a powerful finish.
With the match heading towards a draw, Messi stepped up once again in the 83rd minute. Collecting the ball outside the penalty area, the 39-year-old showcased his exceptional close control, balance and dribbling ability to weave past three opposition defenders.
He then combined with Telasco Segovia before finding enough space to unleash a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner, leaving goalkeeper Matt Turner with little chance of making a save.
