The moment came after a sensational batting display from the Indian opening pair. Chasing West Indies’ imposing 405/7, Rohit and Gill put together a breathtaking 255-run partnership for the first wicket. The stand is the second-highest opening partnership for India in ODI cricket and provided the perfect platform for what eventually became a historic chase.

Rohit contributed a brilliant 101 off 75 balls, registering his 35th ODI century and also crossing the landmark of 12,000 ODI runs during the innings. Gill, meanwhile, continued his stunning form by remaining unbeaten on 223 off 133 balls.
The India captain reached his double century in just 117 balls, setting the record for the fastest ODI double century. His innings included 26 fours and eight sixes as he guided India home with 39 balls to spare.
The eight-wicket victory also sealed the ODI series for India, giving them an unassailable 2-0 lead. However, beyond the records and numbers, the post-match photograph of Rohit and Gill celebrating their combined tally of five ODI double centuries offered a memorable glimpse of the bond between the former captain and the current India skipper.
