Coming to bowl the first over of the match, Hardik Pandya started with an wide delivery on the leg side. After that, bowling the first official delivery of the match, Pandya ended up giving a first breakthrough to India as he dismissed opener Saim Ayub for a golden duck. Ayub attempted to hit Pandya for a boundary on the off side but Jasprit Bumrah was already standing at point to complete a spectacular catch as India got a wicket on the first ball of the match.

After the first over, Jasprit Bumrah took charge for India with the ball in the second over of the match and ended up giving a second breakthrough to the Men in Blue in the game. On the second ball of his spell, Bumrah bowled a good outside off short delivery which was mistimed by Mohammad Haris. After that, Hardik Pandya did no mistake in taking an easy catch as India got their second wicket within the first two overs of the game.
