After losing against KKR, Rishabh Pant was vocal about the fact that his team needed a break to reflect on the major issues in the post-match interview. He further said that the loss of the team is an accountability
for everyone and not any individual player. The team will be focusing mostly on positives, which are fewer at the moment, but they will be discussing them further.
"See, I think we definitely need a break," Pant said at the presentation. "I think we're going to refresh. You know, there is always pressure, and it's going to be a pressure game, always. But at the same time, we have to look at answers inside, not outside. And just keep it simple, man. Just take accountability, each and every guy. Like, it can't be about one or two guys; it has to be about the whole unit. And a lot of people will take accountability for that, for sure."
Nicholas Pooran’s form in LSG has been a major concern for the team. Pooran has just scored 82 runs at a strike rate of 81.18 to date in IPL 2026. Pooran was even sent to bat in the power play with Pant, and that decision was questioned by a lot of critics, looking at his current form. Pant also defended Nicholas Pooran’s decision, saying it was a team decision and there are no excuses for that thought.
"As a group, we had a discussion," Pant said. "And the name that came up was Nicky P. He might not go through the best form of his life. But at the same time, you've got to trust your player in a hard situation like this. They're going to come off nicely. So, no excuses there. Just looking at the positive. There might not be enough positive right now. But I think after the break, there will be a lot of enough positive, for sure."
Narine and Rinku Singh are the real Clutch for the win today
LSG started off well with nailing the powerplay bowling as Mohsin Khan took 5 wickets, but they fell short in front of Rinku Singh, who single-handedly made sure KKR posted a defendable total of 155 on the boards. While batting, Mitchell Marsh fell early to Vaibhav Arora, after which Aiden Markram and Pant were building up a partnership, but Rinku Singh took an incredible catch to give KKR a breakthrough. Rinku was the clutch for sure, and it didn’t even deem in super over.
As Kartik Tyagi’s last over had the drama, Shami sealed a super over with a six. But the fate of the Super Over was in the hands of Narine.
Sunil Narine has never disappointed. KKR has always been a saviour, and thus nonchalantly he took the wicket of out-of-form Nicholas Pooran on the first ball and Aiden Markram on the third ball, only letting LSG score 1 run. The catch of Markram was again taken by Rinku Singh, making a total of 5 incredible catches that he took. While coming down to bat, Rinku Singh hit a 4 to help KKR win their second game of the season
