Pakistan clashes in the T20 tournament. It is to be noted that Yuvraj Singh-led side cruised into the semi-finals after a win and one no result match in the league stage.
However, after they secured five-wicket win over West Indies Champions in the last group stage match, they were set to play Pakistan Champions in the first semi-final at Edgbaston, but withdrew from the game as well as the tournament with their arch-rivals progressing into the final based on the standings.

However, Shikhar Dhawan went out loud to not play against Pakistan in the WCL 2025 due to cross-border tensions following the Pahalgam terror attacks, he further had clarified of not playing them in semi-finals either. However, speculations took over the internet that the decision of the Indian team was driven by political leaders, while some claimed that the BCCI denied players to participate in the match.
But recently, on Monday, August 4, the former Indian opener took to X put all rumours to rest as he shared a screenshot of the fabricated quote and issued a stern response, writing, "That quote is fake. I never made such a statement, please refrain from attributing false words to me. I urge everyone to verify facts before believing or sharing such made-up narratives."
While India Champions entered the tournament as defending champions, but their tournament came to a bizarre end. However, South Africa Champions clinched the title, beating Pakistan Champions by nine wickets in the summit clash at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.
