Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit the headlines last week when he was not picked in Team India's ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series to start from October 19 in Australia. However, the veteran
hasn't given up on his objective to win the ODI World Cup trophy for India in 2027. Jadeja has played in three ODI World Cup editions but couldn't win any. In 2023, the side came close to bag the trophy but Australia stood tall in the final played in Ahmedabad and claimed a six-wicket win to shatter India's dreams. Jadeja looked exceptional as a bowler as he picked up 16 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 4.25.
Ravindra Jadeja, who faced the snub last week, is hopeful of making his dream of winning the ODI World Cup trophy with India true. The left-handed player said he will deliver his best to the side if he gets the opportunity to show up in the competition to be played after a couple of years. "Whenever I get a chance obviously I'll try to do what I have done all these years. And a major tournament like the World Cup, if I get a chance, there are a lot of one dayers before that. If I do well and get a chance, it'll be good for Indian cricket. It's everyone's dream to win the 50-over World Cup. Last time we fell short. Maybe we can do it this time," said Jadeja after second day's play between India and West Indies in the ongoing Delhi Test.
Ravindra Jadeja conveyed about his exclusion from India's ODI squad in Australia
Ravindra Jadeja said that BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar intimated him about his exclusion from the ODI squad against Australia. The all-rounder took the development in a positive manner. "Look, it's not in my hands. I want to play but at the end of the day, the team management, selectors, coach, captain have a thinking why I'm not in this series. There must be some reason behind it. And they talked to me. It's not like they surprised me when the team was announced that I'm not in it. It's a good thing that the captain, selector, coach talked to me and there's a reason behind it," added the 36-year-old.
Jadeja was a part of Team India's squad that won the Champions Trophy 2025 under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. In India's third title win, he chipped in with 27 runs and five wickets in five outings. Moreover, he is currently playing for India in the ongoing second Test of the two-match series against West Indies in Delhi.
