Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was in his red-hot form as his team visited MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, to lock horns with the Chennai Super Kings on Friday. After letting the hosts bat first, Iyer and
Co. were given a target of 210 runs by the Yellow Army. In return, the Red Brigade got off to a solid start, and had all their top-order batters posting double-digit scores.
Punjab skipper Iyer, who had earlier led his side to a three-wicket win over the Delhi Capitals in the season opener, went all guns blazing against the CSK bowlers. Continuing the momentum set by his teammates, Iyer posted a crucial 26-fall fifty. However, he was forced to walk back to the hut in the same over after Rahul Chahar caught him out off an Anshul Kamboj delivery. Iyer combined four boundaries and three maximums during his knock.

Owing to his stunning prowess, the Punjab Kings were able to successfully chase the total and hand a 5-wicket loss to the five-time IPL champions. Notably, this also became the first occasion in 12 years that the Yellow Army suffered a loss in their first game of the season at home.
