As the talks around the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 intensifies with the mini-auction scheduled to be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) too is set to see its first-ever
mega auction. The WPL 2026 mega auction is scheduled to take place on November 27 in Delhi where all five franchises will look to rope in some of the best available talents.
As the WPL franchises also already announced theirretentions for the WPL 2026 season, reports have revealed the dates of the fourth edition. As confirmed earlier, the WPL 2026 will be played prior to its regular schedule due to the T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to be held in February-March in India and Sri Lanka.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t yet confirmed the dates of WPL 2026, but reports citing Cricbuzz have revealed that the women’s T20 league will kickstart on January 7 with the final scheduled for February 3. The tournament is likely to be staged across Mumbai and Baroda, however an official communication is expected at the WPL 2026 auction later this month.
Although, Mumbai, Baroda, Lucknow and Bengaluru were all under consideration, but the first two have considerably edged ahead. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium is tipped to host the opening fixture whereas Baroda is expected to take over in the latter stages.
However a confirmation on the same is expected by the end of this month at the WPL 2026 auction, which is set to be held on November 27 at a hotel in Aerocity. This comes after the retention window closed on November 6 and the final list of released players was announced in due course.
