The England versus India Test series, played for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, went down the wire with the fifth and final match at The Oval in London getting decided on the last day. India went all in the contest
in order to prevent themselves from getting defeated in the series, while England were favourites to take it 3-1. It led to a special performance from the Indian pacers on the last day in the fifth Test, helping the team win the match by a close margin of six runs and levelling the series 2-2.
Reacting to the trimuph, the former Indian captain Virat Kohli took to his social media to congratulate the team. Kohli praised the incredible spirit of fighting till the end by the Indian pacer, and wrote on his official X account, “Resilience and determination from Siraj and Prasidh has given us this phenomenal victory. Special mention to Siraj who will put everything on the line for the team. Extremely happy for him”.
Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna powered India to drawing the Test series 2-2
India went into the fifth Test match without the services of their premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, which was a huge advantage to England. However, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna not only kept India in the game right throughtout, but also held their nerve to eventually winning it for the team in the crunch moment. Siraj picked up an incredible five-wicket haul and Prasidh Krishna picked up four wickets to ensured England weren't able to chase down the 374-run target in the second innings.
Siraj and Prasidh engraved their names in the history books of Test cricket and provided moments of joy to the Indian fans, which will not be forgotten anytime soon. Despite the best efforts of Joe Root and Harry Brook to power England to victory and the incredible display of valour by Chris Woakes, walking out to bat with one hand inside his shirt due to injury, the fifth Test will be remembered for the ultimate heroics produced by the Indian cricket team.
