After parting ways with Chandrakant Pandit,Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) might look to sign Rahul Dravid for the head coach position. Dravid resigned as Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) coach recently and media reports
are now emerging that the three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions have set eyes on the legend who guided Team India to the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph with his coaching prowess. In 2024, Dravid returned to the RR camp after nine years. He was expected to serve the Pink Army for a long time but that couldn’t happen.
This year, KKR failed to extract positive results under the leadership of Chandrakant Pandit and Ajinkya Rahane, who served them as coach and captain respectively. Kolkata failed to defend the title and couldn’t qualify for the playoffs. In July 2025, Pandit resigned from his position and cited the reason to leave the team to explore new opportunities in the sport. Following Pandit’s resignation, KKR are in search for a new coach. However, they might set eyes on getting Rahul Dravidbut it’s still unclear that the former India coach will join the side.
KKR looking to reserve KL Rahul’s services for IPL 2026
Unofficial media reports have come up that after failing to achieve objectives under veteran Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy in IPL 2025, Kolkata are also looking to get KL Rahul, who is a vital part of Delhi Capitals (DC) currently. Rahul captained Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the past.
Playing his maiden season for DC, this year, Rahul looked sensational with his bat. Appearing in 13 matches, he notched up 539 runs at a strike rate of 149.72. With these numbers, the right-handed batter also ended up as the most successful batter for Delhi in the season.
