Australia opener Sam Konstas is seeking advice from seniors Steven Smith and former opener David Warner to get selected for the Ashes 2025-26 to be played Down Under from November 22, 2025 to January 8,
2026. The young opener had horrendous outings with his bat during his team’s West Indies tour. Appearing in three games, he could score only 50 runs at an average of 8.33. Following the failures in the Caribbean tour, Konstas is taking guidance from his senior colleagues. The right-handed batter has also been picked up to play a pair of two unofficial Tests against India A starting from September 16.
Following that assignment, Konstas is also looking to show up in the Sheffield Shield to break into the Aussie side’s 15-member squad for The Ashes. In his conversation with ESPNcricinfo, Konstas said, "It's massive, it's going to be a big four games and I expect that. For me it's just trying to best prepare, and then obviously trusting what I think is right in that current moment. On getting advice from his senior players, the 19-year-old remarked, "I am very lucky to be working with the best in the world. I'm still learning about my game and finding what works in different conditions."
Sam Konstas looking to learn from his recent failures
Sam Konstas, who is enjoying support from his captain Pat Cummins and Australiachair of selectors George Bailey, has said that he will learn lessons from his failures in the West Indies tour to become a better player. "As an athlete, you're going to go through failures and successes, but I tell you, build from those failures and become a better person and cricketer," added the young Aussie.
Australia will kick off their campaign against England in The Ashes 2025 with the first Test in Perth. England haven’t won any Test on Aussie soil for the last 14 years and the hosts will look to continue the English side’s thirst for a triumph Down Under.
