Indian vice captain and star batter Smriti Mandhana created another remarkable record and became the top scorer in women’s T20Is. Mandhana achieved the feat during India’s semi-final clash against Bangladesh
in Asian Games 2026. India were up against the Nigar Sultana-led side at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, where Mandhana opened the innings alongside Shafali Verma. The 30-year-old entered the game seven runs short of Suzie Bates, and reached the milestone in the third over of the innings.
Playing her 178th T20I, Mandhana now has 4788 runs at an average of 30.7 and a strike rate of 126.9 in 171 innings. Bates, on the other hand has 4758 runs from 178 innings. Notably, the Indian deputy also has the most productive T20I batter in terms of 50-plus scores, with her two centuries and 36 half-centuries. Notably, Mandhana made it to the top of international scoring chart in women’s cricket by surpassing compatriot and former India skipper Mithali Raj during the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai.

Smriti Mandhana Becomes India’s Highest Six-Hitter in T20Is
During the semi-final clash, Mandhana also became the first Indian woman to hit 100 sixes in T20 internationals. During the game, Mandhana hit 37 runs off just 19 deliveries, with a combination of five boundaries and two maximums before being dismissed by Nahida Akter. While she was the only Indian batter to have reached the three-figure mark at one point, her record was soon broken by teammate and fellow opener Shafali Verma, as she recorded a blazing 49-ball 100* in the clash on Sunday.
The 22-year-old hit three boundaries and nine maximums as India posted a mammoth 195-run total with the loss of four wickets. In the second innings, the reigning Asia Cup champions wreaked havoc with the ball and dismissed the rivals at just 81 runs, in an onslaught to not only record a 114-run win but also secure a spot in the gold-medal clash. The summit clash is scheduled on September 22, where they will meet Sri Lanka, whom they defeated in Dubai most recently to bag their eighth Asia Cup title.
