In the second T20I of the five-match series, India lost half their side in the eighth over of their innings against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Friday, October 31. While
Abhishek Sharma was still at the crease at the other end, the rest of the batting lineup were found wanting against the pace and bounce of the pitch with Josh Hazlewood taking three wickets in his four-over quota.
Shubman Gill was the first to go back to the pavilion for 5 off 10 in his attempt to loft Hazlewood, only to find Australian captain Mitchell Marsh at mid-off. After Sanju Samson was trapped lbw in front of the stumps by Nathan Ellis, his pace bowling counterpart at the other end went on a rampage, dismissing Tilak Varma and Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav caught behind through to wicket-keeper Josh Inglis with the latter not troubling the scorers.
Josh Hazlewood bowled out his spell on the bounce, registering figures of 4-0-13-3 before Axar Patel ran himself out in his attempt to sneak a third in, leaving India 49/5 in 7.3 overs with Abhishek Sharma unbeaten on 33 off just 15 with five fours and one six.
