In the second semi-final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2025, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur dropped an easy catch of her Australian counterpart Alyssa Healy early in the innings. At the DY
Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Alyssa Healy tried to loft pacer Renuka Thakur over the mid-off region, only to mistime her stroke before it flew towards the right of Harmanpreet Kaur stationed inside the 25-yard circle.
The Indian captain ran a few steps but she couldn’t balance herself completely before the ball arrived and it ultimately bobbled out, giving Alyssa Healy a life on 2 off 6. It was a massive left off from the Indian cricket team, especially with the right-handed batter being a big thorn in their side, scoring a hundred in the successful chase of 330-run target in the league stage of the ongoing tournament.

With a light drizzle arriving at the venue, Kranti Gaud cleaned up Alyssa Healy for 5 off 15, to ensure that the Australian captain didn’t make them pay for their earlier mistake. Moments later, the on-field umpires took the players off as the rain got heavier, leaving Australia 25/1 in 5.1 overs with Phoebe Litchfield unbeaten on 17 off 16 with four fours to her name.
