India's last tour of Ireland in August 2023 was wrapped up by India with a solid 2-0 victory in the T20I series held in Dublin, marking the much-anticipated return of captain Jasprit Bumrah after a lengthy
injury layoff. The first match was a nail-biter, with India clinching a win by just two runs via the DLS method after rain interrupted play, leaving them at 47/2 in 6.5 overs while chasing a target of 140. Bumrah made his presence felt right away, taking out Andy Balbirnie with a stunning inswinger that knocked the stumps down, and then he had Lorcan Tucker caught behind in the same over. The series saw standout performances, particularly from Bumrah's leadership and his four wickets, Rinku Singh's explosive batting in the second match, and Barry McCarthy's valiant effort for Ireland. Bumrah led the Indian side, while Paul Stirling captained Ireland. Ruturaj Gaikwad emerged as India's top scorer with 77 runs, while Andrew Balbirnie led for Ireland with 76. On the bowling front, Bumrah, Ravi Bishnoi, and Prasidh Krishna each took four wickets, while Craig Young was Ireland's leading bowler with three wickets.

India secured the series in the second T20I with a comfortable 33-run win, setting a target of 185/5 and limiting Ireland to 152/8. Gaikwad shone with a score of 58, Sanju Samson contributed 40, and Rinku made a statement with a brisk 38 off just 21 balls. For Ireland, Balbirnie put up a fight with 72 runs but didnโt get much backing. Bumrah, Prasidh, and Bishnoi each took two wickets. Unfortunately, the third T20I was a washout, as relentless rain and a soggy outfield led to its cancellation, officially sealing India's 2-0 series victory.
Indiaโs Tour of Ireland T20 Series 2026
The spotlight now turns to the exciting 2026 India-Ireland T20I series, kicking off on June 26 in Belfast. The first match will take place at the Stormont Cricket Ground on that day, followed by the second T20I at the same venue on June 28, with both games set to start at 3:00 pm local time. This series marks the beginning of Shreyas Iyer's journey as India's new T20I captain. Tilak Varma will step in as vice-captain, and the squad also features the talented teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has earned his first national call-up. Sanju Samson is entering the series with some impressive milestones in sight, needing just 123 runs to hit 9,000 T20 runs and another 101 runs to reach 1,500 T20I runs. With a fresh leadership team, rising stars, and key individual achievements on the horizon, this two-match series presents India with a great chance to lay the groundwork for the upcoming T20Is.
