Suryakumar Yadav displayed a heartfelt gesture during Team India’s opening match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in theAsia Cup 2025game played at the Dubai International Stadium. In the 13th over,
Shivam Dube delivered a bouncer to UAE’s tailender Junaid Siddique, who dodged the ball by backing away. Siddiue pointed towards the towel which fell from Dube’s body while he was running. The on-field umpire signalled towards the third umpire and during this moment, Sanju Samson exhibited alacrity and dislodged the bails by throwing the ball into the stumps.
The replays showed Siddique outside the crease and the third umpire gave the decision against the Emirates’ stalwart. However, Indiaskipper Suryakumar broke into the scene and withdrew the appeal which gave another chance to Junaid. However, Siddique innings’ didn’t survive for a long period as Dube got rid of him a moment later. The 32-year-old played three deliveries and couldn’t score any runs.
India bagged a nine-wicket win against UAE
Chasing meagre 58 runs, India openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill did a magnificent job as both stitched a 48-run stand off just 23 balls. Abhishek smashed 30 off just 16 while Shubman notched up an unbeaten 20 off just nine. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who came to bat at number three, amassed an unbeaten seven off just two balls.
Sanju Samson, who didn’t get a chance to walk into the middle as batter, can be given the role in the middle-order in this tournament. After the emphatic win, India will next take on their arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue on September 14. India’s last T20I meeting with the Men in Green came in the T20 World Cup 2024 match played in New York. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India defended a low total of 119 successfully and bagged a six-run win. Jasprit Bumrah shone with the ball and got the Player of the Match (POTM) award for picking up 3/14 figures in his four-over spell.
