Netizens couldn’t hold back their frustration and took to X as Sanju Samson departed for four runs in the fourth T20I against New Zealand. After batting on the third spot in the previous game, Samson was
promoted up in the batting order after the side decided to drop Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from playing XI due to Ishan Kishan’s return. Though the decision was enough to leave fans fuming, Samson’s poor knock added fuel to the fire.
Samson, who has delivered several knocks in key games, has always dealt with consistency, and his knock in Thursday’s game is another testament to it. In this opening game of the series, he came up with a 33-ball 67-run knock, followed by 14 runs and 18 runs, in second and third games, respectively. Considering Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 45-run knock in the third T20I, fans had quite some expectations with the veteran. However, how things panned out further added to fans’ frustration and they took to X to slam the batter.
Notably, after opting to field first, team India had received a target of 260 runs at Eden Park in Auckland. On the Blackcaps’ side, Glenn Phillips and Micahel Bracewell played key knocks of 49-ball 107 and 25-ball 65, respectively, while Mayank Yadav finished as the highest wicket-taker for India with the figures of 3-48.

We should have rested either Abhishek Sharma or Sanju Samson since we have already won the series. Instead we have rested Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Very bad decision. The kid deserved to play today.
