After almost having let the slip away with the ball, the Chamari Athapaththu-led ladies aimed to make a comeback in the second innings. However, a Shree Charani-led bowling unit had different plans and they dismantled the rivals batting lineup within no time. While Charani picked four wickets, Deepti Sharma came up with three wickets for the side, whereas Kranti Gaud, Shafali Verma and Prema Rawat got one success each. Though the skipper tried to give the side some stability, her efforts clearly fell short as Sri Lanka women were restricted at 111 runs for the Indians to record a mammoth 72-run win.

We feel this way because we know how much potential we have: Harmanpreet Kaur on Reclaiming Asia Cup Title
As India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur reclaimed the Asia Cup throne, she lauded her team. She said, โWe feel this way because we know how much potential we have, and we have a great team. I think we played to our standards because thatโs what we discussed when we came here: we have certain standards, and we have to, you know, keep matching them every day. And we are very happy with the way we all performed. And I think the girls have done fabulously well throughout the entire tournament, setting 184 in a final. Thatโs a big thing.โ
The winning captain also thanked the crowd by labelling them their biggest supporter. โI think Iโve been telling that they are our biggest support. Wherever we go, theyโre always there to support us, and I think in front of them we always want to play great cricket and hope we are able to, you know, entertain them with our great performance. And Iโm sure today, itโs good to see a lot of smiles, a lot of, you know, people enjoying their performance, and hopefully weโll keep continuing that,โ the 37-year-old said.
